This roadside station is located on Prefectural Route 329, the Haruueki Line. It sells agricultural produce year-round, including citrus fruit and various melons, including watermelon. They offer products made with watermelon too, like baumkuchen cake, nigori cloudy sake, and cosmetics. Known as Kumamoto City's north entrance, the roadside station also has a tourist information center and a rest area, so lots of people drop in while sightseeing.

この日の宿泊先は、熊本市の北部にある植木温泉のお宿です。植木温泉に行く前に、その少し南側にあった道の駅すいかの里植木に立ち寄りました。「すいかの里」というネーミングの通り、このあたりはすいかの名産地なんですね。私たちが訪れたのは３月下旬でしたが、館内の特産品売り場にはたくさんのすいかが並んでいました。私たちが見なれているすいかに比べると小ぶりでした。建物外に出てみると、建物横にベンチが並...

熊本市の北部に位置する植木町。この日の私たちの宿泊先は、そのにある植木温泉にあるお宿でした。植木温泉から、熊本市中心部に向かって国道３号線を数kmの国道沿いに、道の駅すいかの里植木がありました。植木町は、本当にすいかの里なんですね。私たちが訪れたのは３月の下旬でしたが、館内には小ぶりのすいかたちがたくさん並んでいました。道の駅のベンチもすいかがモチーフになっていて、かわいらしかったです。

すいかの季節がやってくるといつもこちらにすいかを買いに来ています。今回のすいかは残念ながらあたりとは言えませんが、悪くはなかったです。
