Mameda-machi

Traditional Streets/Houses
"A district located along the Kagetsu River in Hita City. The district has been designated a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Hita prospered as a ""tenryo"" domain under the direct control of the Edo shogunate, and many merchants gathered in this district. Today, many preserved old merchant houses and storehouses still stand here, and it has become a sightseeing destination where visitors can experience the area's history. The Tenryo Hita Doll Festival is held here in mid-February."
