Unzen Fukudaya民芸モダンの宿 雲仙福田屋

Hot Spring Ryokan

"A hot spring hotel situated along the Unzen Road in Unzen, Obama-cho, Unzen City. The baths in the hotel's bathhouse are constantly replenished ""kakenagashi"" style from a sulfur spring whose waters are said to treat such ailments as high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, chronic skin diseases, and chronic women's diseases. Facilities include a garden outdoor bath, indoor bath area combining folk and modern design elements, and four private reservable baths; the bathhouse is also open to non-guests. The hotel boasts a full array of other facilities, including a cafe with terrace seating which serves draft beer and lunches like juwari soba noodles made with 100% buckwheat flour from Takaki-cho, Isahaya City."

This hidden corner of the country is rural Japan at its best, where underground activity is to thank for active volcanoes and bubbling natural hot springs along the Shimabara Peninsula as well as the crystal clear waters of the Goto Islands off the west coast. Less well known than Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, Nagasaki commemorates its own past at the Nagasaki Peace Park, which sits alongside the charming Meganebashi stone bridge and a mix of religious buildings with beautiful architecture, such as the Zen Buddhist Sofukuji Temple, the Confucian Shrine, and the Oura Christian Church.
