Kashiigu Shrine
A Shinto shrine located in Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City. Dedicated to Emperor Chuai, the 14th emperor of Japan, and to Empress Jingu, the shrine holds a major festival in January, the month in which the two passed away. Built in the distinctive kashii-zukuri style, the main shrine building has been designated a National Important Cultural Property. The shrine conducts a variety of festivals and rituals, including a regular festival held on October 29, a festival to pray for good harvests, a ceremonial offering of rice to the gods, and parishioners' festivals in spring and fall.
