Koga Masao Museum of Music

A memorial hall located in Okawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture. The hall was opened in 1982 to memorialize the achievements of Masao Koga, a big composer who created a large number of Japanese popular songs (kayokyoku) in 1930s through 1970s. The museum contains recreations of the artist's study and lesson room and also displays items which belonged to the man such as his beloved guitar and sheets of music. In the listening room, visitors can hear Koga's songs.

「古賀メロディー」の古賀政男さん

筑後川に架かるユニークな形の橋、昇開橋を見た後、柳川に向かう国道を進むと、国道沿いにこの古賀政男記念館がありました。古賀政男さんは昭和を代表する作曲家で、ギターを持って演奏する須賀田を覚えていました。記念館には、彼が愛用していたギターやマンドリンなども展示されていました。また、彼の作品を聴くことができるオーディオ室もありました。記念館の隣には彼の生家もありましたよ。

大学時代の友人に連れて行ってもらいました。閉館時間間近でしたが、職員の方は快く案内をしてくれました。古賀政男氏の生家は通りを隔てて向かい側だそうですが、昔の家の様子が良くわかりました。

ずっと気になっていた施設です。偉大な音楽家に思いをはせ来館。大きな施設ではないですが、いろいろと勉強になり、イベントと重なるとゆかりの音楽を聴くことができます。西鉄柳川駅やＪＲ佐賀駅からバスやタクシーが便利です。
