This history and culture museum is located inside Tamematsu Park in Nakamura, Shimanto City. It is located at the ruins of Nakamura Castle, the castle of Yamauchi Yasutoyo, the younger brother of Yamauchi Kazutoyo, the lord of Tosa. It features exhibits related to the history and culture of the area along the Shimanto River, as well as ancient manuscripts, artwork, and more. The castle tower portion of the museum’s building, which is designed to look like a castle, features an observation deck with a sweeping view of the city.

為松公園には幾つもの駐車場があるようだが、四万十市立郷土博物館をカーナビに入れたら、車がすれ違えないような道だった。

高台に聳える中村城ですが、中は郷土資料館になっており、1階から3階までが、資料室になっています。そこから、階段で6階まであがると、展望台です。四万十市街が一望でき、四万十川も見られ、眺望は素晴らしい。

お城の形をした資料館です。ここは元々は中村城跡の一画。この館内には土佐一條氏関連の文化財とか幸徳秋水関連の遺品などが展示されています。四万十市立なんて云われてもピンと来ないが、土佐の小京都としての中村市の郷土資料館と云われると色々と眼に浮かびます。特に、ここの「一宮神社七星劔」は有名な古文化財です。縁起不明の剣ですが、大阪の四天王寺や奈良の法隆寺にも伝わるものなどがあるが、ここのものは片刃ではなく...
