One of the Shikoku Bekkaku 20 Temples, this historic temple was built by the Buddhist priest Gyoki during the Nara period in the magnificent Sanuki Mountains. It enshrines an Amitabha triad. During the Tokugawa period, the temple was where the Inada clan, the chief retainers of the Takamatsu domain and the Tokushima domain, came to pray. The temple is famous as a place to ward off bad luck.

大瀧山頂上付近に、大瀧寺は存在し山奥なので”雰囲気が別”な様に思えました。徳島//香川と跨いで存在する格式あるお寺です。

四国別格２０霊場の結願寺、大瀧寺さんです、基本、お遍路さんの順路で言えば、徳島からはじまり結願は、香川県で終わるのですが、こちらの大瀧寺さんの住所は、徳島県美馬市になっています。大瀧山の頂上の県境付近ですので、弘法大師様が、建立されたときは、香川県の地であったのでしょうか。しかし、かなり山深いところにあります、お寺です。
