The Peeing Boy of Iya Gorge

Other Historic Site/Building
This statue of a peeing boy was based on anecdotes about local children and travelers who tested their bravery here by peeing off the edge of the 200-meter cliff above the Iya River. Created in 1968 by Tokushima sculptor Ryoko Kawasaki, the statue stands on a rock in Nana Magari (seven curves), said to be the hardest part of the Iya Kaido Highway.
