Other Historic Site/Building

This mountain settlement is lined with around 70 homes built from the mid-Edo period to the early Showa period on a steep slope with an elevation difference of 390 meters. In 2005, it was designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The Iya region has many Heike no Ochudo legends about members of the Taira Clan who survived and retreated to remote regions after the Taira Clan was defeated in the Genpei War.
