A museum which seeks to honor and convey to future generations the achievements of the pioneering anthropologist, archeologist, and ethnologist Torii Ryuzo. The museum is divided into three sections— “Asia as Torii Ryuzo Saw It,” “The Life of Torii Ryuzo,” and “Learning from Torii Ryuzo” —and displays a variety of materials and works concerning the career and research achievements of the man. The facility also has interactive exhibits for children to learn while having fun, such as an area for trying on traditional folk costumes and a pottery puzzle.

近隣に用事があり、こちらにも立ち寄って見ました。歴史には疎いためこちらの人については存じ上げておりませんでしたが、お値段以上には楽しめる場所でした。

50年以上前の小学時代、城山公園の貝塚や遺跡でこの人物を聞いていました。「猫神さん」として今の文化の森ができる以前は祖母とよく行っていた場所。彼の偉業をわかりやすく見ることができ、また世界各地を見て、文化人類学的考察ができる場所です。

県立博物館内の一角にあります。鳥居龍蔵の研究地に関する品も置いてあり、民族衣装を着ることもできます。祝日は入館料が無料です。また、学校の長期休業中には、節電キャンペーンで無料になります。
