Yoshuji
A restaurant which serves traditional vegetarian Buddhist cuisine located in front of the Mountain Gate of the Kurumadera temple in Kyoto City. The folksy appearance of the shop blends in with the quiet surrounding neighborhood located at the foot of a mountain. The food is also served on craft dishes from areas throughout Japan. Making maximum use of simple flavors, the restaurant’s hearty and healthy cuisine includes mountain vegetables with rice, seasonal mixed dish platters, tri-colored rice dumplings, and pickled vegetables. Diners are encouraged to try the restaurant’s famed sweet warabi mochi dumplings and coffee made with water from the spring under the Kurumayama Kannon figure. Be sure to stop by when visiting the Kurumadera temple, famed for being a site of mystical energy.
