Uwajima City Date Museum

This museum is just a 25-minute walk from the Uwajima Station. It exhibits treasured documents of the region the Date family is associated with, as well as cultural items of Uwajima. Although the exhibit has various artifacts on display, from weapons, armor, paintings, writings, earthenware, and clothes, the exhibit of the splendid and luxurious bride's furnishings is extensive.

鎧や兜が展示されていました

伊達家のみならず四国内の殿様の甲冑や刀剣を展示しています。中には変わった兜も有りましたよ。面白いのは伊勢海老の兜、遠くからでも見分けが付きそうです。宇和島藩の歴史では宇和島藩は仙台伊達藩の分家ではないということを強調しています。藩祖秀宗公は大坂の陣の功績により、秀宗公が直接頂いた領地だからという話です。個人的にはどうかなと思いますが。尚、館内は撮影禁止です。

宇和島伊達家の歴史的資料や大名道具を保存＆展示してる博物館です。丁度時期柄宇和島伊達家のひな祭り＆婚礼展が開催中でした。教科書でよく目にする重要文化財の豊臣秀吉像の肖像画を所蔵してることでも有名です。博物館の玄関付近には正宗の甲冑を被れるコスプレコーナーも有りました。

伊達政宗の長男が、豊臣秀吉と関係していたために宇和島へ移らなければならなかったが、その後の幕末までの歴史と文化がよくわかる貴重な品が見られる。
