Hiyoriyama Park
This is a park atop Hiyoriyama hill that is famous for offering a view of all of Ishinomaki. Long ago it was said to have been frequented by the haiku poet Matsuo Basho. On a clear day one can see the Oshika Peninsula and the islands of Matsushima across the water. Known as a place to see cherry blossoms, the Hiyoriyama Cherry Blossom Festival is held every year in April, and is lit up at night for spectacular scenery.
