Gokokuji Temple

This Buddhist temple is located in Kashuyahata, Minami Awaji City. Founded by the Heian period (794-1185) priest Gyokyo, the principal object of worship is a seated image of Dainichi-Nyorai. It's also one of Awaji Island's Sacred Sites of the Seven Lucky Gods, honoring the deity Hotei. Said to be the only one of the seven inspired by an actual person, he's a god of forbearance and harmony who accepts all, regardless of what they've done.

七福神巡りの5神さん目,境内手入れも行き届き温かな笑顔の布袋像。お庭も江戸時代の創りでそれを美しく管理維持されている。こちらはお軸をドライヤーで乾かして返してくださいました。七福神巡りもお寺に寄ってまるで待遇が違うことが面白くもあります。

そこそこの堂塔を有する普通の寺院でした。ここは淡路島七福神霊場の布袋尊をお祀りする寺院です。山門が極彩色で綺麗、ちゃんと仁王さんも一対、安置されています。布袋尊はどこかユーモラスな神さんですが、七福神の中ででは、寿老人・福禄寿の二つと同様に、印象が薄いのが布袋尊。同じ七福神でも大黒さんや弁天さん、毘沙門天さん，ゑびすさんなんかとは覚えが久しくないように感じるが・・・。七福神中、日本の神さんはゑびす...

淡路島七福神のひとつで、瓦で出来た布袋様の像もありました。本尊の大日如来像は重要文化財に指定されています。建物の裏にある庭園がとてもキレイでした。
