Tourism Information Office

Lake Shikotsu Visitor Center is an exhibition facility that introduces the nature of Lake Shikotsu in a friendly way based on the theme: “Tothe forests, to the mountains, to the lake, another journey at Lake Shikotsu.” In the visitor center, where you are greeted by a stuffed brown bear, you can learn about the formation of Lake Shikotsu, the status of the volcano which is still active, and the ecology of the living creatures around Lake Shikotsu through videos, photographs and 3-D models.

Hokkaido Main Areas

Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn. Come December, these natural splendors freeze over and morph into a winter wonderland.
