Renkeiji Temple

Temple
A Buddhist temple located in Renjaku-cho, Kawagoe City. The temple's principal object of worship is a statue of Amitabha Tathagata created in the distant Kamakura period. The temple also enshrines a statue of the high priest Donryu said to grant worshippers safe childbirth and aid in childrearing, and a statue known as Obinzuru-sama which is said to cure one of illness when one touches it. A festival is held at the temple on the eighth of each month to worship Donryu, and on these days a variety of shops open up on the grounds and traditional art performances are held, attracting large numbers of visitors. The temple is also dedicated to Fukurokuju, one of the Seven Gods of Fortune, and the temple makes up part of the Koedo Kawagoe Seven Gods of Fortune Pilgrimage.
