Mantokuji Temple

This temple located in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture is known for the large 16-meter tall, 30-ton Buddha statue on its grounds. This statue is said to be the World's largest one made of bronze, and it is believed that it can bring the achievement of your desires and bless those with poor mobility. There is no main building and the entire grounds are considered sacred.

評判はもう一つと云う寺院です。涅槃像は長さが１６ｍ、高さが３．７５ｍ、重さは確認の仕様が無いが、書いてあるのは３０トン、青銅の涅槃像でガンダーラ洋式で青銅製としては世界一らしい。拝観料は５００円だが私は高齢(６５歳以上)なので４００円でした。常楽山と山号まで付いているが、とても寺院とは・・・？？？。この像以外はな-んにも有りません、堂塔もありません。わざわざこれだけを見に行くのじゃなくて周遊コース...

涅槃仏自体、それもこれだけ大きいのはそうは見ることができないので、一見の価値はあります。ただ、それだけなので、他の観光地などと組み合わせて訪れるのが良いと思います。お寺の本堂とかはありませんし、御朱印もありません。拝観料500円です。私は房総のお寺巡りの一環として訪れました。朝9時から人(住職？管理人？)が来て通行止めの柵を開けてくれます。駐車場はセブンイレブンのすぐそばなのでセブンイレブンを目標...
