Ichinomiyakan Akutagawa-So

Historical Monument
This annex is part of Ichinomiyakan, a traditional Japanese inn. It was built in 1897 and got its current name because the novelist Akutagawa Ryunosuke stayed there during the Taisho period. He sent a letter from there proposing to Tsukamoto Fumi, who later became his wife. Memories of his stay appeared in several of his works. Built with traditional minka (private house) architectural techniques, it's a national Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
