Place famous for cherry blossoms

A famous cherry tree located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. Designated a Special Natural Monument, the tree stands in front of the Rinno-ji Temple's Sanbutsudo hall and is a mountain cherry mutation whose pink buds flower into large white blossoms. The tree is approximately 500 years old. The tree blooms from late April through early May and, if one comes to the temple during normal opening hours, one does not need to purchase a ticket to view the tree.

日光山輪王寺の三仏堂の前にある樹齢約500年の山桜。特別天然記念物に指定されていて春になれば大輪の花を今でも咲かせる素晴らしい名木です。

高さは約10m、幹の太さは約5.7mと存在感も抜群でした。ぜひ春先の花が満開の時に見たいものです。

輪王寺本堂の三仏堂の前にある樹齢500年という桜の大木です。
11月中旬、葉が色づいていました。
オリジナルの御朱印帳にも描かれる桜、開花時に訪れたい。
