Kairakuen Rest House (偕楽園レストハウス)

3.0

Other Restaurant

"A rest house located in front of the east gate of Tokiwa Jinja Shrine's Kairakuen gardens a three-minute walk from Kairakuen Station on the JR Joban Line. The facility offers unique, local dishes and souvenirs from Mito. The staple Japanese apricot udon noodles are made with Japanese apricot mixed in with the noodle dough. Topped with Mito Tengu Natto's Sasanuma Goro Shoten small bean natto, which has received high marks at the national Natto Contest; this tasty dish is truly Mito born and bred. The rest house's classic local cuisine is also popular, such as the ""Mugi Toro-zen,"" a signature meal includes numerous dishes made with foods from Ibaraki's abundant farms."

Review of Kairakuen Rest House

TripAdvisor Traveler Rating
Reviewed:2018/04/04 We had lunch at this restaurant to save time.
There are no restaurants close to Kairakuen. There are many food stalls offering various types of fast food which we didnt fancy. We didnt want to go back to the car park to drive to a restaurant...
Reviewed:2019/09/17

Just a stone’s throw from Tokyo, Ibaraki is a coastal prefecture that has mastered juxtapositions, where old shrines meet new scientific discoveries and traditional gardens are frequented by the inventors of some of the newest technology. Head to Mito City's Kairakuen - one of Japan's Three Great Gardens - in spring to experience the cellestial blooming of fantastic cherry blossoms at the annual sakura festival.
