The museum is unexpectedly good. I came late in the afternoon, and not many visitors, so its relaxing. It shows the history of Tottori, like how the prefecture (including its sand dunes) is formed...

鳥取駅からバスで10分くらい、歩いても行かれます。鳥取城のお膝元にあります。県内の自然、歴史、民俗をわかり易く学べます。時間があれば、お隣の仁風閣もご一緒に見学すると良いと思います。

毎月曜休館と聞いていたので、火曜日に城跡巡り前に立ち寄りましたが、臨時休館でした。
はるばる鳥取に来てせっかくだから、鳥取県の大地の成り立ちや、特有の生物の生態系など、郷土の自然や歴史・文化、特に藩政時代については色々知りたかったのですが残念です。
後で伺ったところ、8月中に休館日を取らなかったため、清掃用の代替休館とのことでした。
なお、年間の休館日はホームページに記載されているそうです。
