Shofukuji Temple

This is the Soto Sect temple, home to the “Rokudo Painting of Hell and Paradise”, said to be the origin of the ghosts used by Shigeru Mizuki, author of Gegege no Kitaro. There are also monuments in the precinct of Shigeru Mizuki and Matsuo Basho.

水木しげるさんが幼いころ、「のんのんばあ」に連れられて、よく訪れていたという正福寺です。本堂に向かって左に記念碑と説明があります。

水木しげるの記念像があるというので訪れましたが、お彼岸前で、皆さん自分のおうちのお墓の整備絵忙しく、記念碑を探せませんでした。また来ます。

水木しげる記念碑が有ると紹介されていたので寄ってみました。今回は境内だけを拝見しましたが次回は本堂内の地獄絵も観てみたいと今から思っています。
