Daigyo-ji Temple
A Buddhist temple a three-minute walk from Kamakura Station nicknamed “Onme-sama,” a reference to its renown for granting prayers for easy childbirth. The temple came to be a protector of pregnant women after its fifth head priest, Nitto, performed memorial services for women who died in childbirth. Charms and maternity belts for safe childbirth can be purchased without an appointment, and the temple is visited by many pregnant women from around the country.
