A Shingon Sennyu-ji Temple Buddhist temple located in the Ogigayatsu neighborhood of Kamakura City. The temple’s honorific mountain name is Senkokuzan. The temple was founded in 1251 by Hojo Tokiyori, the fifth shogun regent, and Hojo Nagatoki, the sixth shogun regent. The temple’s principal object of worship, a depiction of the Amitabha triad, is a designated Important Cultural Property. It is extremely rare in that it is decorated with domon, an ornament unique to the Kamakura region in the middle ages. A short 15-minute walk from JR Kamakura Station.

鎌倉地方独特の仏像装飾《土紋装飾》がどのようなものなのか知りたく参拝しました。鎌倉エリアには数多くの寺院がありますが《土紋文様》を持つ仏像は 7ケ所しかなく [宝戒寺]のように［秘仏］として全く一般公開していない寺院もありその中で[浄光明寺]は参拝可能曜日も限定されているものの年間を通じ鑑賞可能であることを考えると《仏像鑑賞ファン》にはありがたい寺院です。もし《土紋装飾》に興味...

木、土、日、祝日の雨天以外に参拝出来ます。200円を入山料納めると受付していた方が丁寧にお寺の事や仏像について説明して下さいます。元々の伽藍は相当大きなお寺だったとの事です。建物周りはやぐらのお墓や五輪塔に囲まれてます。
観光客が少なく静かです。

鎌倉駅前の小町通の喧騒から離れ、駅から近いとは言え、もうだいぶ静かになっています。このあたりを散策するのは、ある一定の年代のカップルか本当に歴史の好きな人たちだと思います。実際、マンウオッチングしていると、皆、観光案内をよーく読んでいます。このお寺さん、歴史的に有名なお寺さんです。足利尊氏の弟、直義の信仰厚く、帰依したお寺さんです。国重文の阿弥陀三尊像が木、土、日、祝日に拝観できます。
