Kokubu is a convenient place to stop for a night before heading up to Kirishima mountains. Otherwise, you can basically skip Kokubu all together as there is not much to see here. Around the station...

Two car parks both accessible from the main road. Very close to a 7-eleven convenience store and restaurants. Modern hotel. Very comfortable. Room size larger than average for Japan. Would stay again.
