  A small Shinto shrine tucked away just off the main street. A tranquil garden and beautiful pond. Was well worth seeking out on a hot afternoon while waiting for the Nebuta parade to start.

• 宗像三神を祀る神社

  青森市街地の真ん中にある神社で、駅からも歩いて10分ほどか。宗像三神を祀るというから、航海によって生きてきた町の象徴的な神社となるのだろう。江戸時代に南部氏、次いで津軽氏に保護されてきた。境内には、奥州街道の終点の碑、菅江真澄が参詣したことを記念する碑などがある。
