Where to Stay in Himeji
- Himeji is a fairly small town by Japanese standards, and the accommodation options are limited in scope. Here are three different options, for three different budgets, that all come highly recommended. For the budget minded traveler, a guesthouse will be the best bet. Sure, you will give up some privacy by not having your own room, but in return you will save quite a bit of money that can be better spent on other things. Himeji Guest House Engakudou is a guesthouse in a traditional Japanese wooden house located a few minutes’ walk from Himeji castle. The dormitory is simple but clean, and provides all the basic necessities. On the ground floor there’s a lounge space with a huge collection of manga that that guests are welcome to enjoy. Dormitory beds start at 2,500 yen per night, with private rooms also available, albeit at a slightly higher price. They have a good English language website that makes booking a breeze. http://www.engakudou.com/english.html Engakudou Grandvrio Hotel Himeji Castle ©NAVITIME JAPAN. Hyogo prefecture stretches from the north coast to the south coast on the western end of the popular Kansai region, encompassing verdant mountains, urban beaches, and fantastic historical sights. The prefecture's main attractions lie along the south coast at Kobe, the prefectural capital, a pretty harbor city best known for its production of the renowned Kobe beef, and Himeji, the home of Himeji Castle, one of the country's most beautifully preserved feudal castles, perched magically atop a hill.
