Meiji Jingu is a famous shrine for shinto, an indigenous religion of Japan, which worships the Emperor Meiji. Ise Jingu enshrines Amaterasu-omikami, the ancestor of the Gods of Japanese Emperors. These shrines are strongly connected to the history of Japan.
