Journey to Hidden Leaf Village in Fuji-Q, a must visit for Naruto fans

In collaboration with one of the most popular Japanese anime and manga Naruto, Fuji-QHighland, a theme park at the foot of Mt. Fuji opened “NARUTO Χ BORUTO Hidden Leaf Village” in summer 2019, where all visitors can have the chance to step into an authentic world of ninjutsu (ninja warfare) . This article will take you through a one day trip to the village led by a fan of a Naruto whose being in love with the manga for more than 15 years.

NARUTO Χ BORUTO Hidden Leaf Village

The famous Aun Gate will come in sight after a few minutes walk in the Fuji-Q Highland waiting for all ninja and their families to visit. This area is open to the public for free and can take cool instagrammable photos with some of the characters standing outside in the village.

    Ninja Way Museum

This museum is a must-visit for Naruto fans. It features rare sketches from the original manga, as well as a mini-theater showing a special movie from the anime, and also a room recreating the “Hokage Room” and the “throne” in the Uchiha hideout with the kanji 狐 (kitsune, literally meaning fox) surrounded by eight swirls in the back. A scene from episode 135 of the anime“NARUTO Shippūden” can be recreated here if you bring your Akatsuki cloak and wear it before taking a commemorative photo on the throne. The room is pretty bright and to get a more dark and eerie atmosphere like seen in the original manga and the anime, it is highly recommended to edit the photo to something similar to the two photos below.

Not just the Akatsuki cloak but gearing up with the Hidden Leaf jacket or Hokage cloak with the hat is a plus to take an instagrammable photo in the Hokage room. Either with the special camera that lets you take photos alongside your favorite characters or set up your camera, don’t forget to use a transformation technique to take a photo of you being a Hokage. Just outside the room, there is a life-sized Sasuke making a chidori attack which this is also a must not be missed for the fans.

Unfortunately, there are 3 rooms where photos are not allowed to be taken but there is a 180-degree theater with footage of classic scenes, a wall filled with original sketches of the characters and one that was most heart touching was a special video recreating the scene from episode 329 of Naruto Shippuden series. If recalling the memory, this episode features Naruto being backed up by Kurama after being accepted. This special video is in 3D and towards the end, Kurama puts his fist out where you can get part of his chakra. Because I am not Jinchūriki nor am I a trained jonin, Kurama’s chakra was too much for me to take in.

    Game Arcade Ninjutsu Carnival

Summon your frog from Mt. Myōboku and fling it towards Gamakichi or Gamatatsu or practice shuriken tossing with Akatsuki members or roll your ball to tackle Orochimaru, pick one and try your hand at it. If you succeed at any of these, you’ll get a special plush toy available only here. Plush toy of Sasuke is highly recommended to take home because if his hair is pushed up, the hidden rinnegan will show up. It's really in detail and would make a perfect souvenir for you to take home. Carefully aim your shots and try to get that gift!

Scientific Ninja Tool Dojo Hall (Kagaku Ningu Doujou)

This 3D shooting game ride, Kagaku Ningu Doujou, is an indoor shooting ride where you climb aboard the latest scientific ninja tool and shoot down designated targets to gain points. Unlike other areas in the village where the characters are more from “NARUTO”, this ride focuses more on the characters from “BORUTO: Naruto Next Generations”. Here some fans like myself can fantasize and consider that this ride has been under the jutsu(spell) of Karasuki, a turtle-shaped artifact that has the power to transfer people through time. So that it makes sense to say both the characters from “NARUTO” and “BORUTO: Naruto Next Generations” appeared because this hidden leaf village resembles similarities more from “NARUTO”. After you play, your “ninja quotient” is calculated based on your score, so make sure to check it before you leave. Get trained well and aim for the best rank of Hokage!

    Ramen Ichiraku

Ramen Ichiraku offers a range of tasty noodles and the menu uses the names of the characters from “NARUTO” and you will feel as if you are in its world. However, the menus are totally different from the original manga and some like myself who are in deep love with Naruto may fantasize that this Ramen Ichiraku is a brunch store opened by either Matsu or Nishi who was temporarily hired by Teuchi in volume #36 chapter 320. The main menu is “The Five Great Shinobi Countries Ramen” with unique seaweed with the shop’s logo, egg, cheese, bean sprouts and BBQ beef. BBQ beef is definitely from Yakiniku Q where team Asuma frequently visited. In my personal opinion, the beef and the cheese went together really well so eat those two together followed by just the noodles.

Aside from Naruto, the two characters who are a fan of the ramen were sitting in the restaurant already. Iruka-sensei was sitting on the far end and Hinata was sitting at the entrance waiting for someone to dine with them.

In the future, Hinata wins the title for finishing 46 bowls of ramen, which is revealed in episode 18 of Boruto.

    Dessert Shop “Kanmidou”

This dessert shop sells character-related foods and unique cheeseburgers in the shape of a fish called “taiyaki” (small waffle-like filled cake that is filled with either sweet or unsweetened filling like ham and cheese and cooked in a waffle-like mold). If you are a fan, you mustn't miss the famous ice pop where Iruka split it in half to eat with Naruto when he was mourning the loss of his master, Jiraiya. Depending on the season, there are seasonal items so make sure to drop by to check in the availability when you visit the village.

    Access

There are several options to get to Fuji-Q Highland but for the fans, getting aboard theNARUTO bus or train would be an ideal. Between Otsuki station to Fuji-Q Highland station, there is a special train that is covered with both the characters from “NARUTO” and“BORUTO: Naruto Next Generations”. However, there is no standard schedule on when this train will run and would be a miracle to board it. For more information on how to get to Fuji-QHighland, check its webpage here.
