The brainchild of Kyoto’s natural food brand, Prema, Premarche Gelateria prides itself on organic and seasonal ingredients that combine Japanese flavors with Italian gelato texture. The flavors rotate depending on the season but popular standouts have been black sesame and sour yuzu. Most of the gelato is used with Hokkaido cream. Iroha Sushi

Also located along the Meguro River, Iroha Sushi is known for its convenient location and affordable prices. The shop itself might look homely in comparison to Naka Meguro’s chic new eateries, but the sushi never disappoints. The fish is fresh, the lunch sets start from under 1,000 yen, and the restaurant is open until late, making it one of the only joints that serves sashimi as the sun rises. There is also a variety of rolls for Japan newcomers wary of trying raw fish. The original sushi roll, a combination of salmon, crab, and avocado, is a beginner’s gateway to trying more adventurous sushi. At night, the restaurant turns into an izakaya, offering “all you can drink” alcohol deals. The shop is famous and can fill up quickly. Luckily, those without a reservation can check out the second location, also in Nakameguro.
