Soup curry, Sapporo’s soul food, is a rarity in Tokyo. However, Shimokitazawa sports two original Sapporo soup curry restaurants: Magic Spice and Rojiura Curry Samurai. Magic Spice leans towards the Nepalese and Indian style curries with fragrant spices and a seven tiered spiciness chart. The interior transports diners all the way to India and the friendly sari wearing servers can help decipher the menu into English. Magic Spice is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 11:30 AM to 3 PM.

    Curry at Rojiura Curry Samurai

    Curry at Rojiura Curry Samurai

Each soup curry is customizable, diners can choose the size of their rice, curry and spiciness level. Rojiura is open daily from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
