Berber Café
Berber Café
Before any night out, it’s always a good idea to have a good hearty meal before heading out. The wonderfully decorated Berber Cafe is a great place to start if you enjoy delicious soups and curries. The cafe specializes in Moroccan cuisine, so it’s unlikely that you’ll find food like this anywhere else in the area. This is a nice change from Japanese dining, as the flavors are brighter and less subdued than many dishes you’ll probably be eating on your trip.
Berber Café
Along with their unique food options, this restaurant has all-you-can-drink courses ranging from around 3,000-4,000 yen and hookah pipes available if you want to get the party started a little early. You can enjoy various drinks and dishes in their pink room that looks like it’s straight out of a Middle Eastern palace. The easiest way to get to Cafe Berber is to just take a 10-minute walk south from Kiwa Station.

Sanadabori Dori
Sanadabori Dori
The area around the Berber Cafe runs along the river and is a hotbed of international cuisine. The Sanadabori Street is a great place to look for authentic Chinese and Southeast Asian restaurants. You’ll be able to find an extensive variety of restaurants and pubs. From izakaya pubs to soup curry restaurants, this area has become known as a foreigner hangout. If you’re not sure exactly what you’re looking for, walking along the Sanadabori River and exploring this area is a sure way to find something interesting.

Iroha Gekijo
Iroha Gekijo
Another good starting place for a lighter meal would be Iroha Gekijo. This restaurant specializes in sashimi and eel dishes, but also has an extensive list of Japanese sake and shochu available if Japanese spirits are your cup of tea. Their selection of Japanese liquor is not the common stuff you would find in a liquor store, and some of their selections are quite rare. If you want to try something but aren’t familiar with the selections, you can ask for a recommendation and the bartender will be more than happy to oblige. Space at this location is limited, so it’s best not to attempt going here if you’re in a large group.
