Mokumoku Tezukuri Farm

In Iga City, between Nagoya and Osaka, people are being introduced to a new kind of relationship with food thanks to the Mokumoku Tezukuri Farm’s innovative agricultural park. The farm offers programs for visitors to learn how to make delicious food at home. The park also includes a petting zoo and various other activities for children. Since farming is seasonal work, visiting at different times of the year gives guests the opportunity to see and experience different activities.

  • Mokumoku Tezukuri Farm produces a wide variety of products for guests to enjoy. One of the main attractions is their brewery, which has produced over 60 types of beer throughout its history. Since the late 90s, brewmaster Yoshiharu Hattori has used his passion for beer to produce award-winning craft beers at the farm’s in-house brewery. Most notably, his hefeweizen beer took the gold in the World Beer Cup. The brewery uses tried-and-true methods for developing sophisticated beers for every taste. They even employ some less traditional techniques for some brews; for example, their Moonlight Ale was brewed while Claude Debussy’s “Claire de Lune” was played continuously over the speakers.

For children, there’s a petting zoo area where they can see animals up close and spend some quality time with the farm creatures. One of the most popular attractions, from January to April, allows visitors to pick fresh strawberries from the garden (for an additional fee), meaning it’s all-you-can-eat of the sweet berries. There are also classes on baking and sausage making.

Visitors looking for a little bit of rest and relaxation can head over to the farm’s own hot spring facilities. Most of the activities on the farm come with an extra fee for classes and materials based on how many people are participating, so guests would be advised to bring extra cash if they plan to spend a day at the farm doing different activities.
