One of the most interesting stations in the area is Niseko Station, which was designed to look like a German farmhouse. The station is decorated with various potted plants, flowers, and pumpkins. Inside the station, Nupuri serves up a coffee, desserts, and spectacular black curry. This Japanese-style curry restaurant uses local ingredients to make its signature dishes, such as bacon and yam curry, fresh vegetable curry, and hamburger steak curry. At Nupuri, you can come for lunch and stick around for the atmosphere. The inside of the restaurant matches the outside of the station in terms of ambiance. Flower arrangements and clocks line the walls of the woody room so that guests have the feeling that they’re eating in someone’s home instead of an actual cafe.

About 10 minutes from Niseko Station by car, you can experience one of the most beloved spots in the region. Milk Kobo uses milk from neighboring Takahashi Farms to make some of the most delectable ice creams and dairy treats. Their most popular items are their cream puffs, ice cream, and rare cheese tarts. Many food sites recommend this as the number one restaurant to visit in Niseko and reviewers agree.

Be sure to try one (or more) of their homemade treats and grab some more for the road. Prices start as low as 170 yen for their ice cream puff to 1,000 yen for their castella roll cake. At the nearby farm, you can even take a detour and learn how to make your own ice cream for 1,300 yen per person. Be sure to make reservations in advance for the ice cream workshop, as space is limited.

Milk Kobo also has a sister restaurant, Prativo, that’s just a few meters down the road. During lunchtime, Prativo is a buffet-style restaurant that lets you pick your main dish and gives you access to an unlimited vegetable buffet for 1,550 yen per person. During dinnertime, the buffet isn’t available, but the menu expands. Prativo is a restaurant that prides itself on its locally sourced ingredients and makes sure to feature them in all their dishes. It’s one of the more healthy meals you’re likely to eat in Japan. One of the other great things about this restaurant is its breathtaking view of Mt. Yotei in the distance.
