The ryokan has various rooms available depending on your preferred accommodation style. Though each room is slightly different, the one unifying theme is that they typically meld tasteful Japanese style aesthetics with the more mainstream comforts of Western bedding. There are single floor rooms available, rooms with loft spaces for sleeping, and also rooms with their own private outdoor balcony baths.

Prices for a room vary depending on when and what room you plan to book, however, expect to pay around 16,000 yen on the lower end of the scale for a smaller room for a couple and much higher if you plan to combine your deal with dinner in the onsite restaurant. Using freshly sourced local and seasonal Shimanto ingredients, the restaurant offers some of the best produce this corner of Kochi has to offer. Most dishes are typically made in the classic Japanese style. As well as a restaurant, they also house a café and bar. Positioned right between the ocean and the riverbank, the easiest way to access Shimanto Iyashino Sato Shimanto no Yado is by car. There’s on-site parking available for guests and the coastal drive from JR Kochi Station will take you around two hours. If you are travelling via public transport, the closest major station is Nakamura Station, a two hour Dosan Line-Limited Express ride Kochi. From there you can get a 15-minute taxi to the ryokan. The area hosts a number of events which change depending on the season, but for more info and tips be sure to ask the friendly and well informed staff.

Not far from the ryokan is the famous local attraction Chinkabashi a semi-submersible bridge, whose tall railings grows and shrink with the swelling and emptying of the river’s tide. Drawing parallels to the bridge’s aesthetic and relationship to its natural surroundings, Shimanto no Yado’s 30 room ryokan was designed with the concept of blurring the line between the man made elements of the space and its natural surrounds.
