This unassuming guest house makes good use of the Kiso Valley’s abundant resources to provide guests with an unforgettable visit. The simple wooden bathtub is made from cypress wood from the area while the meals on offer are bursting with local, seasonal ingredients from Nagano Prefecture. Prices range depending on whether you choose to add breakfast and dinner to your deal, with a simple plan setting you back 6,000 yen per person with an extra 500 yen for breakfast, 1,000 yen for dinner, or an additional 1,500 yen if you opt for breakfast and dinner. With few other eating options in the area, the fair price is well worth the delicious and varied Japanese menu of seafood-rich dishes with vegetarian options also available.

The simple, traditional guest rooms are homely but with the added modern conveniences of wi-fi, a sophisticated dining area, and a manga corner. Quiet evenings in the Kiso Valley are best spent soaking in Kiso Mikawaya’s in-house onsen which uses natural hot carbonated spring water from the area.
