Divezone Izu
  • Though, of course, there’s so much to see on land, to truly get why Izu is so popular you really have to go below sea level. Divezone is an English speaking diving company located in Tokyo ready to guide you on underwater adventures. They are home to the largest diving group in the Izu area and they offer the most diverse in diving spots and opportunities in the country. Though they do have spots all over the Japan, many of their locations are actually in the Izu peninsula. No matter your level or confidence, the Divezone team have something for everyone.

Japan doesn’t immediately come to mind when thinking about diving adventures, but diving opportunities along their country’s stunning coast are actually world class. Featuring untouched bays and stunning local fish, Izu’s underwater world is unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

One of the most popular locations to visit in Izu is Osezaki thanks to its picturesque view of Mount Fuji and its unique weather protected shoreline. In fact, Osezaki is often even diver friendly during less than favorable weather conditions, like the rather common summer typhoon. Another mainland diving location that’s worth considering is Usugu located on the west coast of Izu. Because it’s a little more shallow than other spots it’s ideal for less experienced divers. Also located around the bay is a hiking trail and BBQ spot for those wanting to make the most of their day by the shore.

Beyond the main part of Izu there are a number of diving options off the Izu islands too. Located just a few hours from Tokyo by ferry sits Oshima island, home to Nodahama’s ‘fish TV’. Actually an underwater arch, ‘fish TV’ is a natural wonder, the arch is often busy with lively sea creatures looking like a literal TV filled with fish. The Miyakejima dive is another of Izu’s dives worth considering. Also known as the dolphin encounter trip, here you can swim alongside wild but friendly dolphins while enjoying the water’s incredible AA (20m visibility level) water. Beyond these mentioned spots the company offer many other locations so to find out where is best for you, speak to the friendly staff.
