As the world capital of kawaii, Harajuku is the must-go place to experience Japanese pop culture and wacky fashion at its finest. Eddy’s Ice Cream is one of the newest additions to Harajuku’s colorful concoction of cute cafes giving all budding Harajuku girls the chance to accessorize their ice creams with ribbons, cat paws, and unicorns.

The much awaited Eddy’s Ice Cream shop opened its doors to the excitable public on July 14th. The cafe specializing in ice cream and painted all in pink is a welcome addition to the Harajuku neighborhood just a stone’s throw from the ever famous Takeshita dori, a street bursting with parading cosplayers, animal cafes, and a plethora of pancake shops. Coming up with new trends to keep the fashionistas of Harajuku happy may be a challenge but it looks like multi-colored, accessory-adorned ice creams were good enough to make the cut.

The concept of the shop is pretty straightforward with customers starting off by choosing their cones which come with different colored rims. A basic ice cream starts at 500 yen and extra toppings can then be added for an additional 100 to 400 yen each. To keep with the cutesy white and pink theme, the ice cream comes in just two flavors: vanilla and strawberry, or a mix of the two.

Accessories include everything from lips, hearts, palm trees, and unicorns. Alternatively, you can leave the careful arrangement to the professionals by choosing a ready-made combination of accessories from the original menu. These include the “American”, “Lovely”, and “Kiss Me”. Prices range from around 800 to 1,400 yen depending on how blinged out you’d like your ice cream to be.

As well as ice creams, Eddy’s sells a number of brightly colored drinks to follow in the theme. These include blue and pink lemon squash, and strawberry milkshakes. The shop is home to a handful of bar seats and its decor is as cutesy as its ice creams all painted in pink with additional pink phones on the walls and obligatory cute cat photos and neon-lit flamingos which are part of the recipe for making it big in Harajuku.
