Where to Stay in Osaka

Though it has less of the fancy places you’ll find in Tokyo, Osaka is definitely a lot more fun to stay in, and thanks to relaxed regulations there you’ll also find a wide range of Airbnb-style lodgings. Not only that, but many non-conventional spots that you may not have even imagined. The only problem is picking which neighborhood, but we have a couple of offbeat suggestions.

    First Cabin

Capsule hotels have had to evolve over the years, and First Cabin has taken the concept of the tiny private space, modeled it after an airline, and made it into proper rooms. Though you still share toilets and bathing facilities with other guests, the room still feel like proper hotel rooms, albeit with less-than-soundproof doors. Still, they’re well-equipped, and the experience of staying there is like a premium capsule hotel with great bathing and sauna facilities. It would be hard to stay more than a couple of nights unless you’re not so concerned with privacy and space, but it’s fun to do and right in the middle of the Namba entertainment district.

    Hotel Alps

Have you read about the famous Japanese “love hotels”, and wanted to try them out but aren’t sure of yourself? Hotel Alps is actually a love hotel that’s been partially converted to regular hotel, so you get all of the benefits of the love hotel experience without having to pay by the hour. Massive baths with TVs on the wall, king size beds, and easy and cheap room service. It’s all about catering to a couple who want to spend some time alone, so just about any amenity you can imagine is in there. Versus a regular business hotel it’s a steal, and located right in the middle of Namba for great nightlife.
