Returning of UNIQLO in Tokyo fashion capital Harajuku

Uniqlo opened a new store in the fashion hub, Harajuku, the first such opening in eight years on June 5th 2020. This new store is located on the ground floor and the basement floor of a new shopping complex, WITH HARAJUKU in front of a recently renovated Harajuku Station.

  • The store is designed to appeal to young customers with the integration of digital features hoping to make this store a new hub for pop culture. There are 240 touch screens inside the store where customers can see different outfits posted by others. Not only that, using the Style Hint outfit suggestion app on your smartphones, customers can select a displayed image that they are interested in by tapping the screen. And if you have the app, it will not only show a little map of the store pop up on the screen with a map showing you where to buy that item you selected, but you can scan the QR code to open the same map on your phone to search for the product even if you don’t have the app. It’s a pretty cool futuristic system!

On the ground floor, the store also has the world's largest area exclusively for its UT collection known as UT POP OUT. This floor is dedicated solely to UT collection with large selection of T-shirts in collaboration with various artists and brands. Other than fashion items, such new items like notebooks and bags etc. are a new addition to the UT collection which can also be found here. For a temporary time, a 3m tall statue of Billie Eilish designed by Takashi Murakami is on display along with a huge pitch black Minnie Mouse statue.

Don’t forget to stop by at UTme! booth where you can customize (to a certain extent) t-shirts and tote bags with designs collaborated with a nearby cafe and shops. If you purchase any items at the store, you will get a shopper with a UNIQLO Harajuku original design. And lastly, although unrelated to the products, if you are a music lover, try going to the Spotify Special Booth, where you can listen to a special eclectic mix of music just customized only for UNIQLO Harajuku by various artists.
