Jishu Shrine (inside Kiyomizu-dera):love and relationships(En-musubi)

Kyoto’s Jishu Jinja (Jishu Shrine) is located just north of Kiyomizu-dera’s (Kiyomizu Temple) main hall, and is popular among young women and couples seeking their love fortunes via the god of marriage. There is a pair of wish stones called “Koiuranai-no-ishi” (love fortune stones), and it is said that if you close your eyes and walk from stone to stone you will realize your love. If you reach the other stone unassisted your love wishes will be fulfilled quickly, but if you need help from others to get between the stones then your love goals will also need help from other people. Please also visit the shrine’s main hall, as the enshrined god (Okuninushi-no-mikoto) will also bless you in your love journey.

    Yasui Konpira-gu Shrine:Enmusubi / Enkiri(love and relationships /dissolution of a relationship)

Yasui Konpira-gu Shrine is the first place you’ll want to visit if you’re looking for a good relationship. It’s claimed that if you climb through a hole in the center of the stone called the “enkiri (separation) enmusubi(marriage) stone”, bad and sour relationships can be ended and new, positive relationships can be initiated. This extends beyond human relationships too, as partaking in the stone ritual can also help ward off things like bad habits and diseases. The enmikuji fortune slips which show the chance of relationship success are popular, and we recommend you purchase a set of the enkiri and enmusubi good-luck marriage charms also.

    Suzumushi-dera (Kegon-ji):All-purpose

Suzumushi-dera (temple) is a place where you can enjoy the sounds of suzumushi (Japanese crickets) all year round. The temple’s main Jizo statue (Buddhist deity) grants worshippers one wish each, and then he will visit their homes (he wears waraji (sandals) for this reason) – so be sure to give him your name and address so that he can come to your place! Also, the yellow packaged happiness charms sold here are rather cute and would make a nice spiritual memento of your visit.

    Kifune shrine:love and relationships

Kifune Shrine is located deep in nature on the banks of a mountain stream, and its tranquil surrounds will definitely put the hearts of visitors at ease. It is known as one of the best power spots in Japan.

A famous Heian period poet, Izumi Shikibu, visited the shrine and prayed for reconciliation after issues in her marriage caused her husband’s change of heart. Her prayers were answered, thus Kifune Shrine became known as the "Koi no Miya" (palace of love). Good luck matchmaking charms (omamori) embroidered with imagery from the Heian era nobility are also popular.

    Seimei Jinja:warding off evil

Seimei Jinja is a shrine dedicated to the onmyo-ji (Yin Yang diviner), Abe no Seimei, who played an active part in the middle of the Heian period. The shrine’s talismans are beneficial in warding off evil, and there are many worshipers who come to visit the shrine seeking divine intervention. It is a shrine that emits a somewhat unique, supernatural vibe where the main motifs are the pentacle (five point stars) and Shikigami (ghost-like creatures), which are found on the shrine’s torii, lanterns, and ema.
