Recently, more and more animal cafes have been popping up around Tokyo. Animal cafes such as cats, Shiba dog cafes, snakes, and owl cafes attracted a lot of attention. But now there's a new sheriff in town.
The micro pig is now hitting the scene and is making a ruckus. As in customers are going crazy over their cuteness. Mipig (Micro Pig) Cafe in Harajuku is now open and awaiting your visit.
A little bit about the Micro Pig Cafe
Micro pigs are tiny pigs that were bred in the UK and have now made their way to Japan. Mipig cafe in Meguro & Harajuku are the only officially managed micro pig cafes where you can meet these bundles of joy. It's a place where you can see just how cute & smart these little creatures really are.
If you're interested in going, you'll need to make a reservation online. Walk ins aren't accepted here!
What's a typical day like in Mipig café Harajuku?
Lockers for shoes & valuables
Don't forget to wash your hands thoroughly
After entering the micro pig cafe, get some sterilized slippers and then go to the lockers to put away your shoes and valuables. There's also a wash basin for disinfecting hands. You need to be germ free since you'll be interacting with baby micro pigs that have a weak immunity.
Now that we have that out of the way, it's time to head through that door! Hope you're not allergic to adorableness.
Mipig Cafe Interior
Mipig Cafe Harajuku is hidden away on a side street making it near impossible to be found accidentally. Cut off from the bustling city sounds, it's a cute little space with the theme of The Three Little Pigs. There's a living room space where most of the interaction will take place, but there's also three lovely little private rooms.
The private rooms are all decorated accordingly: straw house, wooden house, and brick house. It will cost you a bit extra if you want to reserve a private room.
Whether you're in the living room area or the private rooms, you'll find cute micro pigs roaming all over the place. The prejudice towards pigs is that they are dirty and smelly, but I can say with assurity that this is not the case!

Finding the right spot
Micro pigs are very social beings. Intelligent, loyal and all so cuddly! Even being a complete stranger, I was quickly overun by 4 micro pigs that thought the side of my leg would be a great location for a little nap.
One thing that most people don't know is that they're ranked 3rd as the planet's most intelligent animal. Each with a unique personality, every interaction will surely leave a lasting impression.
