MUJI-lovers can swing by AEON Mall Kyoto Branch near Kyoto Station to go shopping, but something you may not know is that they have a bicycle rental service.

You will be asked to pay 3,000 yen on deposit which will be reimbursed upon returning the bike. The rental fee is just 550 yen per day.

Bicycle Rental (C) MUJI

You can register at the shopfront or call in advance to secure your bike. It can be rented at a reasonable price and does not require a reservation, so check it out if you get a chance. They’re open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, with reception ending at 6:00 pm.

You can also book your bike Online but if you would like to keep the bike overnight, you’ll need to reserve it at the shop or by phone.

The Good Day Velo Bikes & Coffee Kyoto

If you want to experience an early morning cycling tour along the Kamo River before exploring Kyoto’s pleasant backstreets, this bike rental shop is the place to be.

The tour requires an Online Reservation and starts at 7:30 am, with participants welcome to enjoy a coffee or local beer at the end of the tour.

There are three types of bikes available. SIMPLE VELO and SMALL VELO bikes are 1,400 yen for one day (9:00 am to 6:00 pm) while XTRACYCLE bikes (cargo bikes that can be ridden with small children) are currently on sale for 2,500 yen per day. Depending on your needs, you can also rent additional gear or picnic items.

The shop is located on Sakaimachi street near Karasuma Oike station and is closed on Mondays, every third Sunday of every month, and also has irregular holidays.

Humhumhug Cycle Center Kyoto

The Humhumhug Cycle Center offers a wide selection of bikes, including tandem and children’s bikes. You can keep the rented bike until 9:30 pm or until the next day for an additional cost (maximum rental period is one week).

The fee is 1,000 yen per day (11:00 am – 9:30 pm) for a normal bike or 3,000 yen per day for a tandem bike.

Children’s Bicycle and Tandem

The shop is located near Nijojo Castle on the corner of Oike street and Shinmachi street. It can be accessed from Karasuma Oike station, with bike rental services arranged on the spot.
