Nestled at the base of Mount Fuji, Fuji-Q Highland is one of Japan’s most popular amusement parks.     What is Fuji-Q Highland?

    Originally opening in 1968, Fuji-Q Highland is famed for its numerous roller coasters and two haunted attractions - the Haunted Hospital and the Endless Haunted Mine. It also features a children’s area themed around Thomas the Tank Engine and a pavilion where you can step into the world of Japanese anime series Evangelion. The unique views of Mount Fuji are another highlight of the park, offering an angle not regularly seen.

    Get to Fuji-q by train

    The nearest station to Fuji-Q Highland is Fujikyu-Highland Station, which is located on the Fujikyuko Line. There are two options for those wanting to travel by train to the amusement park:

    1. Travel from Shinjuku on the Fuji Excursion
    The Fuji Excursion is a limited express service known as "Fuji Kaiyu" in Japanese. It travels directly from Shinjuku to Fuji-Q Highland, with no need to transfer along the way.

    The journey takes 1 hour and 52 minutes, and the fare costs 4,130 yen or is free if you have purchased the JR Tokyo Wide Pass.

    2. Travel along the JR Chuo Line and Fujikyuko Line from Tokyo Station
    This route requires you to transfer from the JR Chuo Line to the Fujikyuko Line at JR Otsuki Station. On arrival at Fujikyu Highland Station, simply exit the ticket gate, and you will see the second entrance in front of you. There are limited direct trains from Tokyo Station to Otsuki Station on the JR Chuo Line, so you may opt to travel from Shinjuku Station, Mitaka Station, Tachikawa Station or Takao Station instead.

    The journey from Tokyo Station to Otsuki Station takes 1 hour 14 minutes (limited express), and 1 hour 48 minutes (normal service). Fares cost up to 2,540 yen, with the ticket itself costing 1,520 yen and the limited express seat adding 1,020 yen.

    For your reference, the limited express trains are named the "Kaiji", "Azusa", and "Super Azusa”.

    The journey from Otsuki Station to Fujikyu Highland Station takes 49 minutes (limited express) and 1 hour (normal service). Fares cost up to 1,700 yen, with the ticket itself costing 1,100 yen while the limited express service adds 400 yen and a reserved seat is 200 yen. If you have a JR Tokyo Wide Pass, your journey on this route will be free.

    Get to Fuji-q by bus

    It’s easy to travel by bus from various destinations in Tokyo to Fuji-Q Highland and fares are very reasonable. In addition, you can find combination tickets that include a round-trip bus journey and a free pass to the amusement park. There are two main companies offering bus transport:

    1. Fujikyuko Bus joint operations

    Tickets

    Admission to Fuji-Q Highland has been free since July 2018, with visitors just paying for individual rides and attractions, which cost between 400 and 2000 yen each. However, you still need to get an admission ticket from the ticket window before entering the park.

    It's also possible to purchase a Free Pass, which includes unlimited rides for the entire day. If purchased online, it costs 6,000 yen for adults, 5,500 yen for youth (12-17 years of age), 4,300 yen for children (6-11 years of age), and 2,000 yen for infants (under 6 years) and seniors (65+).

    If you want to skip the queues, opt for the Zekkyo Priority Ticket, which includes a free pass and costs 9,600 yen for adults, 9,200 yen for youth (12-17 years of age) and 7,900 yen for children (6-11 years of age).

    Combination tickets, including bus, train or car rental to access Fuji-Q Highland are also available. A one-day unlimited rides pass and round-trip train travel from Shinjuku Station costs between 7,700 and 7,900 yen for adults and between 7,500 and 7,600 yen for junior and senior high school students. Bus combination tickets cost around 7,700 yen for adults, 7,300 yen for students (12 to 18 years of age), and 4,760 yen for children (3 to 12 years of age). Packages including a full day's car rental start from around 5,300 yen per person.

    Where to buy tickets

    Tickets for Fuji-Q Highland can be purchased at the ticket window near the entrance or from select convenience stores. They’re also available from the amusement park’s official website at https://www.fujiq.jp/ticket/e-ticket.html.
    Free Pass advance-purchase tickets will see you save up to 500 yen on the regular price and include unlimited rides. If you purchase a Facial Recognition Pass online, you can enter Fuji-Q Highland through the priority gate.

    Hotels
