Coin lockers & Luggage Storage facilities around Kyoto Station

There are several coin lockers scattered around Kyoto Station. The basic charge is usually from 400 to 700 yen. Your luggage can be stored for up to 3 days. (An additional charge will be applied every morning at 02:00AM)

There are some lockers that use keys, but most are electronic lockers.
→ Cash and Suica are both supported.
→ When you pay with cash, a red receipt will appear.
→ Be careful not to lose the QR code on the receipt when you take out the baggage.

    People getting off the Shinkansen at Kyoto Station can use this large array of lockers near Hachijo Entrance

    Known as the "coin locker highway", about 1500 lockers are all lined up. Since it's right outside the Shinkansen exit, it is highly recommended for people getting on or off the Shinkansen.

    Because there are so many lokers, each locker block has been given a flower motif. A simple yet elegant way to keep you from forgetting where it your locker is.

    Fee: 400, 500, 600, 700 yen
    Opening hours: 24 hours
    (Although there is Suica support, you will typically need to use cash for lockers that use keys. There are money changer machines nearby if you need change.)

    Exit the Shinkansen platform (Hachijo Exit), then exit the door in front of you. The lockers will be on either side.

    For sightseers heading to Arashiyama : JR Kyoto Station, lockers are inside ticket gate near Central Exit

    These lockers are recommended for people sightseeing in Arashiyama. There are a lot of lockers in this area, but be wary because the lockers may be hard to get to during the peak season due to a surplus of commuters.

    Enter the central ticket gate of JR Kyoto Station and then go right.

    Go straight ahead. You will see lockers on bother sides

    You will see quite a few lockers on your right side (like the picture).

    If these lockers are unavailable, take a left turn and you will see lockers on your right side.

    If these are unavailable, then take a right turn when you hit the platform, and then go straight. You will see the following yellow object where there are even more lockers.

    2 easily accessible locker locations : JR Kyoto Station front of Central Exit

    If you're looking for lockers after doing some sightseeing in Kyoto, these two locations will be most suitable for your needs. The station is large and easy to get lost in, but thankfully these locations are easy to understand.

    ① Go out the ticket gate at JR Kyoto Station Central Exit, turn right and go straight ahead.

    ② To find more lockers, head outside and take a right. The second set of lockers are under the escalator.

    2 Hidden lockers : JR Kyoto Station Central Exit B1F

    There are several coin lockers on the basement floor. Compared to the 1st and 2nd floor where people are constantly coming and going, the basement is much less crowded and has lockers hidden away from plain sight.

    Go down the escalators that are just outside the Central Entrance (in front of the ticket machines). Once you get off the escalators, turn right and go straight ahead.

    You will see them on your left-hand side. There's even more lockers once you enter the doorway just right to the lockers in the picture.

    If you take a left after getting off the escalators at B1 and go straight, you will see an enclosed area just for lockers.

    Lockers located not too far from Kyoto Station “AQUA FANTASY”

    Even though it is close to the station, not too many people are using these lockers. Being close to the station makes it very convenient.

    After exiting JR Kyoto Station (Central Exit), head in a north-east direction. Once you pass the "Bus ticket Center" which should be on your right-hand side, take a right turn and go down the stairs.

    Lockers located outside Kyoto Station : Porta Dining

    There are a number of coin lockers at Porta next to Kyoto Station. If you find it difficult to find a vacant locker at the station, stop by the underground shopping center of Porta.

    Opening hours: 10: 00 ~ 22: 00 (during Porta open hours)

    ・ Exit Kyoto Station (from the Central Exit) and head into the Porta entrance and go down the escalators.

    Free refrigerated lockers at JR Kyoto Isetan B1F

    Only for refrigeration (not for frozen goods), available only for the day.

    Fee: 0 yen * you need pay 500 yen when using it, but it will come back after taking it out (can only use 500 yen coin)
    Business hours: 10: 00-20: 00

    Go to the “established store taste” (老舗名店の味) area at the corner of Isetan B1F adjacent to Kyoto Station.

    The lockers are located next to the toilets (the signs on the ceiling will also help with direction).
