    Nago Pineapple Park is a pineapple theme park located on a plateau within Nago City. Visitors can travel through the park in fully-automatic “Pineapple Carts,” viewing the sub-tropical vegetation and the extensive pineapple fields. There is also a pineapple processing plant within the park; the plant has displays about everything to do with pineapples, and visitors can also view the pineapple-slicing process. In the shopping area, visitors can taste various pineapple-related beverage and food products, and buy souvenir gifts to take home.

It is famous as the venue used for the Kyushu-Okinawa Summit in 2000. The retro building built with uniquely Okinawan materials is its characteristic. It was refurbished in 2013 and reopened with the concept of an “interactive facility style / original story book” Tropical Kingdom Tale. You can learn about and enjoy the secret of fruit and the story of happiness and others through the tale. The “fruit zone” in the facility grows more than about 30 types of tropical fruit, such as papayas and mangos depending on the season. In the “shopping zone” you can try sweet pineapple. It also has a range of other facilities such as a restaurant, a café and a shop where you can buy souvenirs.

    This theme park is mostly indoor and makes a good candidate for a rainy day activity. However, it probably is not the top of the list choice should you visit a park in the vicinity. Will not...
