This long-standing dining hall is on National Route 58 in Ogimi Village in the Kunigami County. It’s known for its “gyuniku soba” (beef soba), which features mounds of stir-fried bean sprouts seasoned with black pepper as well as beef. There’s also “soki soba” (Okinawan noodles made from wheat powder) and “yakiniku okazu” (grilled meat side dish), among other original Okinawan dishes. There’s often a long line in the afternoon at this popular spot.

Dont miss the gyuniku soba! A huge amount of stir fried beef and moyashi over a bowl of noodles. Moyashi is at the right point, not raw but still very crunchy. And all that beef juice slowly...

Let go of your image of a busy, ordered Japan and replace it with crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and relaxing folk music: You’ve arrived in Okinawa. A world away from the high intensity of Tokyo, Okinawans appear to live a laid-back beach life on this paradisiacal tropical island that lies in the middle of the East China Sea almost 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Japan’s most southern tip. Home to a spattering of islands, prepare yourself to discover underwater caves, star-shaped sand, and an island culture sometimes unrecognizable from mainland Japan.
