Nago Pineapple Park is a pineapple theme park located on a plateau within Nago City. Visitors can travel through the park in fully-automatic “Pineapple Carts,” viewing the sub-tropical vegetation and the extensive pineapple fields. There is also a pineapple processing plant within the park; the plant has displays about everything to do with pineapples, and visitors can also view the pineapple-slicing process. In the shopping area, visitors can taste various pineapple-related beverage and food products, and buy souvenir gifts to take home.

The park although small, was pretty well organised for a 1-2 hour visit. From the parking lot, there will be a bus pickup through the pineapple fields with useful information on growing pineapples...

Busena Marine Park is located at Cape Busena, near Nago City. An underwater observatory has been built in the waters off the cape, providing a 360-degree view of the beautifully colored fish through 24 underwater windows. Glass-bottomed boats depart from the pier near the observatory, enabling visitors to “stroll” through the ocean. Please note that there is an admission charge for the observatory, and there is also a charge for the trips in the glass-bottomed boats (packages combining the two activities at a specially reduced price are available).

We had 2 activities; taking the glass-bottom boat and climbing down the water tower. Sailing out to the sea and looked at the sea bed through the glass at the bottom of the boat was quite an...

Emerald Beach is a Y-shaped beach near Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in the Ocean Expo Park. It is divided into three sections; one for playing, one for resting, and one for viewing, and the large beach can accommodate about 3,000 people at the same time. The beautiful sea is so transparent we can see the white sand on the ocean floor easily, and the beach has been selected as one of Japan’s top 100 bathing beaches.

Emerald beach walks very clean. There are permanent ‘parasol’ type of seating which provides shade from the sun and some seating area for one to rest when out of water. There are around 4 big floats...

Sesoko Island is a remote island accessible from Okinawa’s main island via the 762-meter-long Sesoko-ohashi Bridge. This natural beach stretches for about 800 meters along the island’s west coast. The contrast between the clear emerald-green sea and white sand is stunning, and the beach makes a great spot for admiring the orange tinge the sea takes on at sundown. Snorkeling is available at the swimming zone as well, allowing visitors to see brilliantly-colored tropical fish up close and personal.

drove up here on the 19th January to find the area locked up and gate closed, the signage was in Japanese but from what I aw there was huge construction so I presume the beach is closed

This is Japan’s only subtropical Karst topographical landform, created 200 million years ago by the corrosion of limestone by rain and other natural forces. It has been considered a holy site since ancient times, and four courses are available that introduce visitors to unusually shaped rocks, large rock formations, subtropical forest, and other natural scenery. There is also a barrier-free course for the elderly and children. Come enjoy the wondrous paradise formed by Nature’s own hand.

Daisekirinzan is definitely worth a visit, especially if visiting Cape Hedo. Our phone guided us directly to the parking lot no issues and there was a huge parking spot. There is an entrance fee...

The Okinawa Commemorative National Government Park Ocean Expo Park is a government-run park established to commemorate ’Expo 75 (which was held in Okinawa in 1975) on the site where the Expo was held. The many attractions within the large Park include the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, Emerald Beach, the Tropical Dream Center, etc. Electric buses link the attractions within the Park, which receives large numbers of visitors.

The tanks are too small for them. They were separately located in individual tank. All of them were so lonely and swim at the same rhythm all the time.

"This aquarium is located within Ocean Expo Park on Motobu Town. A number of species are raised in one of the world's biggest tanks, including whale sharks over eight meters in length, and large reef manta rays. In addition, the seas of Okinawa are replicated in meticulously crafted exhibits, such as the shallow seas with spreading coral or the deep ocean. Also, the restaurant ""Ino"" offers a lunch buffet with an ocean view (there are breakfast and a la carte times as well), which you can make use of without entering the aquarium. There are dolphin shows (free) to enjoy in the ""Okichan Theater"" outside too."

Situated beside the large aquarium tank. Food isnt the best though, mainly to fill your stomachs while you are visiting the aquarium to avoid travelling far for lunch.

OKINAWA Fruits Land located in Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture is a popular sightseeing place. It was refurbished in 2013 and reopened with the concept of an “interactive facility style / original story book” Tropical Kingdom Tale. You can learn about and enjoy the secret of fruit and the story of happiness and others through the tale. The “fruit zone” in the facility grows more than about 30 types of tropical fruit, such as papayas and mangos depending on the season. In the “shopping zone” you can try sweet pineapple. It also has a range of other facilities such as a restaurant, a café and a shop where you can buy souvenirs.

My first visit to Fruits Land was unexpected, i thought was a place like Pineapple Land but was totally different. It’s like a treasure hunt for kids, where they need to collect all fruits stamps...

This general leisure facility allows visitors to steep themselves in traditional Okinawan culture and marine attractions. The main attraction is the course that lets visitors play and swim with dolphins. The “flying jet board” activity uses water pressure to allow people to walk through the air, while cultural offerings include the chance to play the traditional “sanshin,” where even beginners can learn a traditional Okinawan folk song.

This local restaurant uses a kominka (old house) centered on Asato residence, constructed in the late Meiji period (1868–1912). In the afternoon, in addition to Okinawan soba wheat noodles, you can enjoy their prided Agu pork dishes and steak using wagyu beef from the prefecture, and reservations are only available for the shabu-shabu course and wagyu steak. They only offer courses of Ryukyu dishes or Agu pork at night.

Make your reservations online as the place can be packed. We ordered the Agu pork shabu shabu set for 3 persons and really enjoyed the meat and the fresh vegetables. The resulting broth at the end...

Okinawa soba noodles have various tastes depending on the region. At this store, their hand-prepared and thin 100% wheat flour sea lettuce noodles using homemade sea lettuce without preservatives are popular. The soup base is rich with pork and bonito, but the noodles go perfectly with the simple soup. Fish cakes with sea lettuce, pork ribs, sea lettuce and red pickled ginger are used as topping.

Great service- super quick and tasty food. Awesome outdoor seating although it is in the back and you cannot enjoy their amazing oceanview! It was a nice place for a quick lunch

Roadside Station Ogimi is a roadside rest area on National Highway 58, located in Nerome, Ogimi Village. There is a range of Ogimi Village specialty products on sale, including Shekwasha (flat lemons) and Akatsuchi Daikon (Japanese radish), etc., when in season. There are restaurants on the First and Second Floors, including the Beautiful View Soba noodles restaurant on the Second Floor, where diners can enjoy not only Okinawan Soba noodles but also Japanese-style Soba noodles made using buckwheat flour from buckwheat grown locally in Ogimi. Immediately adjacent to Roadside Station Ogimi is the “Longevity Stele,” a stone monument celebrating the fact that Ogimi has the longest-lived inhabitants of any community in Japan.

We dropped by the rest area after a day at Cape Hedo and Daisekirinzan, hoping for a good lunch. Unfortunately, it being past 2pm, the cafe had run out of Okinawan soba and only had curry to offer...

A park located in a forest adjoining the Okashigoten Nago Shop in Nakayama, Nago City. Here visitors can go on an adventure in a subtropical virgin forest and encounter over 80 animatronic dinosaurs brought to life with stunning movement and roars. A fun destination for children and adults alike, there are walking paths in the park and at the end of the course is a children's area with dinosaurs and play equipment kids can ride, as well as a shop filled with dinosaur merchandise. Visitors can also use a tablet and view moving 3D dinosaurs and, depending on the season, charming seasonal flowers. Be sure not to miss the park's rare subtropical flowers.

Seaside Drive-in in Onna Village, Okinawa Prefecture is an American-style restaurant. It is open 24 hours, and everything on the menu which is a fusion of Japanese and Western is available for take-out. Despite the American-style facade, it is a fun place which has a range of antique toys and an aquarium where you can see tropical fish. It faces the sea so you can gaze at the beautiful sunset in the evening.

Each course features various obstacles as well as thrilling zip lines that allow participants wearing a harness to glide through the air for up to 120 meters from a height of up to 30 meters. Other activities include a Tarzan swing, trampolining, archery tag, and more.

Okinawa Areas

around-area-map

Let go of your image of a busy, ordered Japan and replace it with crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and relaxing folk music: You've arrived in Okinawa. A world away from the high intensity of Tokyo, Okinawans appear to live a laid-back beach life on this paradisiacal tropical island that lies in the middle of the East China Sea almost 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Japan's most southern tip. Home to a spattering of islands, prepare yourself to discover underwater caves, star-shaped sand, and an island culture sometimes unrecognizable from mainland Japan.
