This local restaurant uses a kominka (old house) centered on Asato residence, constructed in the late Meiji period (1868–1912). In the afternoon, in addition to Okinawan soba wheat noodles, you can enjoy their prided Agu pork dishes and steak using wagyu beef from the prefecture, and reservations are only available for the shabu-shabu course and wagyu steak. They only offer courses of Ryukyu dishes or Agu pork at night.

Make your reservations online as the place can be packed. We ordered the Agu pork shabu shabu set for 3 persons and really enjoyed the meat and the fresh vegetables. The resulting broth at the end...

Kishimoto Cafeteria is a long-established (founded in 1905) Okinawan Soba Noodles restaurant located in Motobu Town. The restaurant’s signature dish is its hand-made “Ash Soba Noodles,” made with broth derived from the clear upper layer of water that has had rice straw ash dissolved in it. The rich-flavored dried bonito soup stock and thick hand-made noodles have remained largely unchanged since the restaurant was first established. Kishimoto Cafeteria is very popular with both tourists and locals.

    Okinawa Pref. Kunigamigunmotobuchou Izumi 70-1
Despite being located a two-hour drive from Naha Airport in Motobu Town, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture, this Okinawa soba noodle restaurant is so popular, lines of waiting customers form outside its door. Operating out of an Okinawan style wooden Japanese home with a red tile roof, the restaurant's tatami mat seating gives it an old fashioned, Showa period atmosphere. The establishment's medium thick noodles are served in a fairly thick skipjack tuna based broth. Here customers can enjoy soki soba noodles topped with sweet and salty stewed spare rib, and san-mai niku soba topped with three strips of sweet and salty stewed boneless pork rib. Lines often form outside the door before the restaurant even opens and the establishment closes when supplies run out. This popular restaurant is frequently featured on television and in magazines.

This Okinawan pork restaurant cherishes the idea of eating pork raised on Yanbaru (northern part of Okinawa Island) in Yanbaru. Besides pork carefully raised on a ranch located 15 minutes away by car, the restaurant uses items such as vegetables and seasonings made on Yanbaru. Okinawa Areas

around-area-map

Let go of your image of a busy, ordered Japan and replace it with crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and relaxing folk music: You’ve arrived in Okinawa. A world away from the high intensity of Tokyo, Okinawans appear to live a laid-back beach life on this paradisiacal tropical island that lies in the middle of the East China Sea almost 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Japan’s most southern tip. Home to a spattering of islands, prepare yourself to discover underwater caves, star-shaped sand, and an island culture sometimes unrecognizable from mainland Japan.
