    This pottery is located in a quiet environment surrounded by fields and trees east of Yonaha Bay about a 10-minute drive from Miyako Airport. It makes and sells Tsuboya ware, a traditional style of pottery dating back three centuries to the time of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Tsuboya ware, which was strongly influenced by Chinese pottery, often features patterns with fish or tree peonies. Fish in particular connote the prosperity of descendants because of the way they lay so many eggs at once. They also symbolize wealth and good fortune. In addition to plates, glasses, and other vessels, the pottery also sells shisa statues. The potter who runs the establishment is a certified Okinawa Prefecture Craftsman.

Customers can have their names written on mugs and other items as a souvenir.     コロナの規制が緩和され、全国旅行支援を使ってお手頃価格で沖縄に行けたので、2年ぶりに行ってきました。人流が増えたせいか、お店の中の商品はスカスカでした。特に見たかった一流作家の琉球ガラスもほとんど売り切れてありませんでした。 わざわざこの店を探して行くくらいだったら、「鍵石(キーストーン)」の久茂地店か牧志店に行った方が絶対に良いです。
